Issue 1 looks at Scandinavian design from the perspectives of furniture, fashion designers GANNI and Cecile Bahnsen, and interior designers Open House to rewrite and redefine the tropes of Scandinavian fashion and design.
Interior designer Rachel Dougan who owns ViVi Interiors called Scandinavian design a “lifestyle”. She says, “But Swedish design has no place for clutter because clutter ruins the lines. It begs to be left alone so that air and light can circulate through it.” Inspired by her words, the spread and page layout takes on a module-like structure with the text and image fitting together precisely. The color treatment has a cool, mature approach to the common pastel color palette in Scandinavian design while the layout brings a fresh perspective to a changing narrative.
